Well as today i m going to describe you how you can download a jdk or java development kit on your machine and after we ll take a short view over how to install it in our system in order to work upon it.
so friends
-> firstly there should be an jre or java run time environment on our machine, if it is not available then it can be download from http://java.com.
(It is very little file baout 10mb large as compare to jdk but very helpful which allow us to run Java applets, java based software on our system very efficiently and also help us keep up-to-date automatically with current java s/w used version or jre, which is running everywhere in this world; where ever download or updated.)
(Now you have download and install current jre on your system, now it is time to choose java devlopment kit or jdk or j2sdk or java2 software development kit. generally whenever you visit http://java.sun.com it will suggest you to download the latest release of jdk that is 6. It is available to free download
If you are a student of Software engg or Computer science than you have heard about 1.5th version earlier, which is also available over there, but Sun Microsystem has stopped to provide support officially. But still if we found any bug or require any information related to java, many of forums over internet are available 24*7, including at http://java.com and other related sites)

-> when you will get complete all formalities required here to download jdk (like to fill up an customer information form) they will give you two options to download the requried s/f.
 first one is You can copy paste the link given or it will be download like any general download that we used to do.
 second option is that download Sun Download Manager and play it safe. when you select option down with SDM it will download .jnlp file on our machine.

-> now, that, you have download the .jnlp file than it is time to invoke this by just double click over it. (you have download from java.sun.com earlier)
   it will take few minutes to complete or few seconds depending on your network access speed.

-> Now, this .jnlp file will start the process to download the sdm on your system and you ll be able to download java development kit software’s setup file from website directly. This file is about 75 mb large in case of jdk 6 and 90 or greater in case of jdk 5 only. here , Only means java.sun.com also offers others useful software like glass fish, net beans ide bundled with your jdk s/f, but it is matter of choice what you want to download or not.

Now, it is time to put your system on sleep mode or switch off your desktop (to save energy), if you are not doing any other importent job on your computer/pc/laptop.

NOTE:
that you have already download jre (java runtime environment) than you can just download jdk 1.x only.which in turn itself remove some headache to download large files.

And if you Download EEJDK that means Enterprise edition java development kit, than you dont need to worry it will perform both tasks, i mean, it will successfully compile and run your application whether for enterprise, web, or simple for window environment.

Duration it will take to complete:- It is matter of speed or type of internet connection you are using. from few minutes ~ to many hours.

INSTALLATION STEP

-> rest of tasks are like doing easy job as java installer itself take care of all its job to be perform.
we just need to direct it where to install what thing, i.e. JRE and JDK or both can be installed in a separate drive.
